The one-way hike can range from 45 minutes to slightly over an hour. This variation is based on individual pacing and stamina. The journey encompasses an elevation gain of roughly 300 meters (about 984 ft) over 8 km (approximately 4.9 miles). During our exploration of the volcanic region, we'll make occasional stops to capture photographs and appreciate the stunning scenery.

We equip you with walking poles for stability and crampons for winter conditions.

We might weave a detour through the lava fields for an off-the-beaten-path experience, time and conditions permitting.

⚠️ Tour Safety Assurance: In the event of an active volcanic eruption, our comprehensive safety and emergency protocol is immediately implemented. This involves our guides utilizing gas meters to assess air quality and assure your safety. Emergency masks are also readily available if the situation demands. We stay constantly vigilant of the safety guidelines issued by the SAAR team (Iceland's Search, Rescue & Injury Prevention Association) and local authorities. Your well-being is our utmost priority.

        • The duration of our tour and the trek to Fagradalsfjall's volcano may fluctuate based on daily weather conditions and your pace. This flexibility could result in a lengthier or shorter tour experience.
        • Please note that our tour operates harmoniously with the weather, and we are adjusting its schedule to guarantee the most enriching and enjoyable experience possible.
        • Please be advised that the Fagradalsfjall Volcano is not currently active. Glowing lava depends on volcanic activity and should not be expected during your private tour. Despite this, the volcano's grandeur and the surrounding landscape provide a unique and breathtaking experience.
        • Difficulty level from easy to moderate. Since this is a private tour, we will customize the experience. 
        • If you choose the Self-driving option, calculate extra driving time. The tour duration can be up to 4 hours, based on your pace.
        • If you choose the tour with transfers, the total duration can be up to 6 hours, as we also count the driving time both ways. 
        What to bring

          Dressing appropriately for the climate and activity is crucial for your comfort and safety. We advise dressing in layers, with waterproof outerwear being essential.

          Recommended attire and gear for this hike include:

          • Base Layer: Opt for a long-sleeved top to keep your core warm.
          • Insulating Layer: A cozy sweater will provide additional warmth.
          • Outer Layer: A waterproof shell coat is indispensable to protect against any potential weather changes.
          • Bottoms: Equip yourself with waterproof pants for comfort and dryness.
          • Headwear: A Merino wool hat is a perfect choice for warmth and breathability.
          • Footwear: Merino wool socks and comfortable hiking boots will keep your feet warm and well-supported.
          • Hydration & Nutrition: Don't forget to pack a bottle of water and some snacks. An energy drink or energy bar can also be a great pick-me-up during the hike.
